| CVE-2026-23437 | 1 Linux | 1 Linux Kernel | 2026-10-19 | 7.8 High |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: shaper: protect late read accesses to the hierarchy We look up a netdev during prep of Netlink ops (pre- callbacks) and take a ref to it. Then later in the body of the callback we take its lock or RCU which are the actual protections. This is not proper, a conversion from a ref to a locked netdev must include a liveness check (a check if the netdev hasn't been unregistered already). Fix the read cases (those under RCU). Writes needs a separate change to protect from creating the hierarchy after flush has already run. | ||||

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: libceph: reset sparse-read state in osd_fault() When a fault occurs, the connection is abandoned, reestablished, and any pending operations are retried. The OSD client tracks the progress of a sparse-read reply using a separate state machine, largely independent of the messenger's state. If a connection is lost mid-payload or the sparse-read state machine returns an error, the sparse-read state is not reset. The OSD client will then interpret the beginning of a new reply as the continuation of the old one. If this makes the sparse-read machinery enter a failure state, it may never recover, producing loops like: libceph: [0] got 0 extents libceph: data len 142248331 != extent len 0 libceph: osd0 (1)...:6801 socket error on read libceph: data len 142248331 != extent len 0 libceph: osd0 (1)...:6801 socket error on read Therefore, reset the sparse-read state in osd_fault(), ensuring retries start from a clean state. | ||||

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ipvlan: Make the addrs_lock be per port Make the addrs_lock be per port, not per ipvlan dev. Initial code seems to be written in the assumption, that any address change must occur under RTNL. But it is not so for the case of IPv6. So 1) Introduce per-port addrs_lock. 2) It was needed to fix places where it was forgotten to take lock (ipvlan_open/ipvlan_close) This appears to be a very minor problem though. Since it's highly unlikely that ipvlan_add_addr() will be called on 2 CPU simultaneously. But nevertheless, this could cause: 1) False-negative of ipvlan_addr_busy(): one interface iterated through all port->ipvlans + ipvlan->addrs under some ipvlan spinlock, and another added IP under its own lock. Though this is only possible for IPv6, since looks like only ipvlan_addr6_event() can be called without rtnl_lock. 2) Race since ipvlan_ht_addr_add(port) is called under different ipvlan->addrs_lock locks This should not affect performance, since add/remove IP is a rare situation and spinlock is not taken on fast paths. | ||||

The reason is that smc_special_unlock() calls spin_unlock_irqrestore(), and rcu_read_unlock_bh() in __dev_queue_xmit() cannot invoke rcu_read_unlock() through __local_bh_enable_ip() when current->softirq_disable_cnt becomes zero. | In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: erspan: Initialize options_len before referencing options. The struct ip_tunnel_info has a flexible array member named options that is protected by a counted_by(options_len) attribute. The compiler will use this information to enforce runtime bounds checking deployed by FORTIFY_SOURCE string helpers. As laid out in the GCC documentation, the counter must be initialized before the first reference to the flexible array member. After scanning through the files that use struct ip_tunnel_info and also refer to options or options_len, it appears the normal case is to use the ip_tunnel_info_opts_set() helper. Said helper would initialize options_len properly before copying data into options, however in the GRE ERSPAN code a partial update is done, preventing the use of the helper function. Before this change the handling of ERSPAN traffic in GRE tunnels would cause a kernel panic when the kernel is compiled with GCC 15+ and having FORTIFY_SOURCE configured: memcpy: detected buffer overflow: 4 byte write of buffer size 0 Call Trace: <IRQ> __fortify_panic+0xd/0xf erspan_rcv.cold+0x68/0x83 ? ip_route_input_slow+0x816/0x9d0 gre_rcv+0x1b2/0x1c0 gre_rcv+0x8e/0x100 ? raw_v4_input+0x2a0/0x2b0 ip_protocol_deliver_rcu+0x1ea/0x210 ip_local_deliver_finish+0x86/0x110 ip_local_deliver+0x65/0x110 ? ip_rcv_finish_core+0xd6/0x360 ip_rcv+0x186/0x1a0 Reported-at: https://launchpad.net/bugs/2129580 | ||||

Address the issue explicitly avoiding the reinjection in the critical scenario. | CVE-2025-71104 | 1 Linux | 1 Linux Kernel | 2026-10-19 | 5.5 Medium |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: KVM: x86: Fix VM hard lockup after prolonged inactivity with periodic HV timer When advancing the target expiration for the guest's APIC timer in periodic mode, set the expiration to "now" if the target expiration is in the past (similar to what is done in update_target_expiration()). Blindly adding the period to the previous target expiration can result in KVM generating a practically unbounded number of hrtimer IRQs due to programming an expired timer over and over. In extreme scenarios, e.g. if userspace pauses/suspends a VM for an extended duration, this can even cause hard lockups in the host. Currently, the bug only affects Intel CPUs when using the hypervisor timer (HV timer), a.k.a. the VMX preemption timer. Unlike the software timer, a.k.a. hrtimer, which KVM keeps running even on exits to userspace, the HV timer only runs while the guest is active. As a result, if the vCPU does not run for an extended duration, there will be a huge gap between the target expiration and the current time the vCPU resumes running. Because the target expiration is incremented by only one period on each timer expiration, this leads to a series of timer expirations occurring rapidly after the vCPU/VM resumes. More critically, when the vCPU first triggers a periodic HV timer expiration after resuming, advancing the expiration by only one period will result in a target expiration in the past. As a result, the delta may be calculated as a negative value. When the delta is converted into an absolute value (tscdeadline is an unsigned u64), the resulting value can overflow what the HV timer is capable of programming. I.e. the large value will exceed the VMX Preemption Timer's maximum bit width of cpu_preemption_timer_multi + 32, and thus cause KVM to switch from the HV timer to the software timer (hrtimers). After switching to the software timer, periodic timer expiration callbacks may be executed consecutively within a single clock interrupt handler, because hrtimers honors KVM's request for an expiration in the past and immediately re-invokes KVM's callback after reprogramming. And because the interrupt handler runs with IRQs disabled, restarting KVM's hrtimer over and over until the target expiration is advanced to "now" can result in a hard lockup. E.g. the following hard lockup was triggered in the host when running a Windows VM (only relevant because it used the APIC timer in periodic mode) after resuming the VM from a long suspend (in the host). NMI watchdog: Watchdog detected hard LOCKUP on cpu 45 ... RIP: 0010:advance_periodic_target_expiration+0x4d/0x80 [kvm] ... Since the periodic timer does not require frequent APIC timer register programming, the guest may continue to use the software timer in ---truncated--- | ||||

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net/handshake: duplicate handshake cancellations leak socket When a handshake request is cancelled it is removed from the handshake_net->hn_requests list, but it is still present in the handshake_rhashtbl until it is destroyed. If a second cancellation request arrives for the same handshake request, then remove_pending() will return false... and assuming HANDSHAKE_F_REQ_COMPLETED isn't set in req->hr_flags, we'll continue processing through the out_true label, where we put another reference on the sock and a refcount underflow occurs. This can happen for example if a handshake times out - particularly if the SUNRPC client sends the AUTH_TLS probe to the server but doesn't follow it up with the ClientHello due to a problem with tlshd. When the timeout is hit on the server, the server will send a FIN, which triggers a cancellation request via xs_reset_transport(). When the timeout is hit on the client, another cancellation request happens via xs_tls_handshake_sync(). Add a test_and_set_bit(HANDSHAKE_F_REQ_COMPLETED) in the pending cancel path so duplicate cancels can be detected. | ||||
| CVE-2025-68770 | 1 Linux | 1 Linux Kernel | 2026-10-19 | 7.5 High |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: bnxt_en: Fix XDP_TX path For XDP_TX action in bnxt_rx_xdp(), clearing of the event flags is not correct. __bnxt_poll_work() -> bnxt_rx_pkt() -> bnxt_rx_xdp() may be looping within NAPI and some event flags may be set in earlier iterations. In particular, if BNXT_TX_EVENT is set earlier indicating some XDP_TX packets are ready and pending, it will be cleared if it is XDP_TX action again. Normally, we will set BNXT_TX_EVENT again when we successfully call __bnxt_xmit_xdp(). But if the TX ring has no more room, the flag will not be set. This will cause the TX producer to be ahead but the driver will not hit the TX doorbell. For multi-buf XDP_TX, there is no need to clear the event flags and set BNXT_AGG_EVENT. The BNXT_AGG_EVENT flag should have been set earlier in bnxt_rx_pkt(). The visible symptom of this is that the RX ring associated with the TX XDP ring will eventually become empty and all packets will be dropped. Because this condition will cause the driver to not refill the RX ring seeing that the TX ring has forever pending XDP_TX packets. The fix is to only clear BNXT_RX_EVENT when we have successfully called __bnxt_xmit_xdp(). | ||||

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: netfs: zero gaps in read-gaps folio to avoid writing back stale data netfs_read_gaps() leaves gaps around a streaming write's dirty region unread on the server side, so a short/EOF response there left stale folio content that later got written back. Zero it after the read completes, not before: netfs_wait_for_read() returns rreq->transferred once ret >= 0, so build an iterator over the same bvec array the read used, advance past ret, and zero the rest. The dirty region already maps to sink pages in that array rather than the real folio, so this can't touch it, and only the actual shortfall gets zeroed instead of the whole gap upfront. | ||||
| CVE-2026-98759 | 1 Linux | 1 Linux Kernel | 2026-10-18 | N/A |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: usb: typec: tipd: fix uninitialized typec_partner_desc in cd321x_update_work() cd321x_update_work() passes a stack-allocated typec_partner_desc to typec_register_partner() after initializing only usb_pd, accessory and identity. typec_register_partner() copies attach and deattach from the descriptor into the partner. With those fields left unset, garbage function pointers may be stored and later invoked from typec_partner_link_device() when a USB device is linked to the port. Uninitialized pd_revision and usb_capability similarly leak stack data through partner sysfs. Zero-initialize the descriptor so optional callbacks remain NULL and the remaining fields are zero. | ||||
| CVE-2026-98820 | 1 Linux | 1 Linux Kernel | 2026-10-18 | N/A |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: blk-mq: set RQF_USE_SCHED when the operation is known The cached requests are allocated for one operation but can be handed out for another. A passthrough command has RQF_USE_SCHED cleared, so using those flags for a subsequent read/write bio will insert it into the scheduler without ->prepare_request() and frees it without ->finish_request(). For kyber, this leaks the domain token acquired at dispatch and stalls the queue. Don't set RQF_USE_SCHED based on the first operation the batch happened to be allocated for. Instead, set it after the request is claimed by an operation. Introduce a helper function, blk_mq_rq_late_init() for this, and absorb blk_mq_rq_time_init() since the two run together. | ||||
| CVE-2026-98729 | 1 Linux | 1 Linux Kernel | 2026-10-18 | N/A |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: x86/mm: Don't apply va_align to hugetlb mappings on AMD F15h get_align_mask() returns huge_page_mask_align() for hugetlbfs, but get_align_bits() adds va_align.bits regardless, so vm_unmapped_area() returns an address off the huge page boundary and __unmap_hugepage_range() hits BUG_ON(start & ~huge_page_mask(h)) at teardown. This can be triggered on Carrizo and FX-8370E, both hstates. Pass the file to get_align_bits() and skip the randomisation for hugetlbfs. [ bp: Massage commit message. ] | ||||
| CVE-2026-68908 | 1 Mz-automation | 1 Libiec61850 | 2026-10-17 | 5.3 Medium |
| libIEC61850 is an open-source implementation of IEC 61850 client and server protocols including MMS, GOOSE, Sampled Values, and R-Session. Prior to 1.6.2, Reporting_RCBWriteAccessHandler accepts an RptID longer than 129 bytes in the report-control-block write path. When GI later causes sendNextReportEntrySegment to serialize the report, the function wraps rptIdBuf[130] as a temporary MmsValue and passes it to MmsValue_setVisibleString. The setter's resize path frees the stack-backed buffer, allowing a remote client to trigger an invalid free and server crash by writing the oversized RptID and then generating a report. This issue is fixed in version 1.6.2. | ||||
